Creating a repeat textile print in photoshop

Hi there,

I need help on creating a repeat print in photoshop. In my notes I have written that after I have adjusted the color of the print, I then need to scale the image size, however I have no idea why I have have to do so and how do I then join two seams and fix the repeat and then do a half drop of the print.

Pls help.
