In the 1980’s, Paul was working in a large retail store selling TV’s, VCR’s, and all types of computers. In 1988, Paul needed a major change in his life, so he started to work in ofices using his typing skills and found that he had a natural ability in bookkeeping and became a full time bookkeeper until 1997.
A computer school, looking through the yellow pages trying to find someone to teach some software to some of their students, stumbled across his name and called him to teach QuickBooks for two hours. Paul interviewed, was hired, and taught 2 hours. This was the final career change for Paul. He has been teaching accounting including Peachtree and QuickBooks since 1998 with his own clients and at business schools in the New York City area.
Paul believes that the more questions students ask in the course of a class, the more that the students will learn. He also knows that accounting and bookkeeping can be boring to some people, so that when Paul teaches classes, he tries to make it interesting using real life situations and have fun at the same time as teaching a serious subject.
“I am here for the students and if the students don’t learn something substantial at the end of the day, then I haven’t done my job.”
Programs Paul teaches at NYIM include: Quickbooks, Peachtree, MS Word, MS Access, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel.
